Applied Design and Product Development I & II
The two newly introduced compulsory subjects AKPro I and II occupy a special key position in the new Master's course in Product Development.
Overview
In AKPro, the students starts with a lecture block at the beginning of the course to deepen the interdisciplinary content from the areas of project management and model-based product development. These contents are then independently applied by the students in practical projects. The students work in small groups of up to 20 persons on projects with real tasks from industry and learn the development process from requirements definition to concept development to the validation of results by real cases.

- Creating the function structure
- Creating solutions to problems of principle
- Concept creation with the morphological box
- Concept evaluation and selection
- Final presentation of the first semester
Applied Design and Product Development II:
- Concept presentation
- Project plan for the winter semester
- Design under restrictions
- Design principles and basic rules
- Presentation of the interim results
- Prototype construction and testing
- Creation of the final documentation
- Presentation of the drafts to the industrial standard partner
Cooperation with the Industry
The ifas participates with a construction project which is carried out in cooperation with Bucher Hydraulics.
The aim is to improve the design of an elevator valve which is used to control hydraulic passenger elevators.
The aim is to optimise the existing valves in terms of performance such as flow rate and pressure drop.
Elevator valves have a high demand on comfort and safety, which is achieved by a robust hydraulic design and intelligent electronics.
In order to ensure compatibility with existing passenger elevator systems, important interfaces must be maintained.
