Revier 2020
Especially in environments such as demolition or mining, machine operators are exposed to hazards that can be avoided by remote control of the machines. As part of the "Revier2020" project, a test excavator is being converted for remote operation in cooperation between the Chair of Individualised Production in Architecture (IP) and ifas, a remote control stand is being set up and the system is being tested together with trainees from the NRW construction industry at the RWTH reference construction site.

Revier2020
The objective of the project is to develop and set up a demonstrator for automation and digitalisation in the environment of the construction industry. In cooperation with the Chair for Individualised Production in Architecture (IP), training content is also being developed for trainees from the NRW construction industry in order to convey automation and digitalisation as an opportunity. The demonstrator that has been set up serves as a practical example.
The Aachen West reference site
The project is taking place as a pilot project at the RWTH reference construction site. On this site, an interdisciplinary team of scientists, including ifas, is researching the construction site of the future together with a European industry consortium. From the pre-production of construction elements to the automated and digitalised construction site, research is to be carried out here in cooperation between a wide range of specialist disciplines. Automated machines, networking and new concepts can be tested under real construction site conditions.
"The reference construction site on Campus West combines interdisciplinary research through a holistic view of machines and processes with the education and training of students and employees already working in the construction industry in a novel way. The incipient technical revolution towards Construction Machine 4.0 and the construction processes of the future for a more productive and sustainable construction site, where innovative technical solutions relieve the workers, become reality here and can be experienced directly." - Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. Katharina Schmitz
