Dynamic Seal Test Bench

Image of the Dynamic Seal Test Bench

The dynamic seal test rig (DYDIP) at ifas is used to investigate the transient frictional force of translational rod seals, such as those used in hydraulic cylinders. Any speed of up to 0.5 m/s can be set along the total stroke of 800 mm. The pressure to be sealed can also be set as desired up to 300 bar.

The special feature of the test rig is that - unlike most test rigs - the frictional force of a single sealing package can be measured specifically. This is achieved by the split piston rod of the cylinder to be tested. In addition, a wedge-shaped gap inside the test chamber reduces the pressure acting on the split piston rod at the end face to prevent the fluid pressure from influencing the force sensor.
