Message to our friends, supporters, customers, sponsors and associations regarding the fire in the neighbouring building on February 4th, 2016
After the media covered the incident, I would like to provide you with first-hand information of the situation.
First of all, the positive aspects:
Nobody was hurt as the fire occurred at night.
A well-structured fire wall kept the fire out of our lab and damage is only related to smoke emissions and the burnt shared infrastructure.
The cleaning of our lab was decided, prioritized and arranged with the insurer. A specialized company obtained the order to proceed. As soon as the responsible authority gives their okay for entering the lab, the infrastructure will be repaired and we will use all available workforces for enabling at least limited operability as fast as possible step by step regaining full operability.
I would like to thank all those, who offered help by their calls or messages. Your sympathies motivate us and show us the appreciation we enjoy for our work within the industry and the world of science.
Together with my staff, we will focus all our efforts on providing our full services to you again, as soon as possible. We accept the challenge and I, myself, am dedicated to its successful completion.
We hope that our fellow WZL colleagues, staff and students will be able to start operation soon in diverse locations until a new building is constructed.
On Tuesday February 9th, 2016 the office building was opened for regular work again.
If you should have questions the institutes' management is happy to answer them. Additionally, we will keep the homepage updated by continuously uploading actual news.
